travel, surfing, fishing
Follow the adventure. You’ve probably heard it before — but the chances are you haven’t actually seen it done much. This is where Dakota Timm breaks from the pack. An advocate of travel and adventure, it’s his love for the outdoors that drives him to see so much of the world.
Having traveled to over 20+ countries in his less than three decades on earth, Dakota Timm makes it a point to travel the world to find some of the best surfing, fishing, free-diving, and snowboarding spots around. But one of his favorite parts about traveling is the different cultures and people he gets to interact with along the way. Travel, for Dakota, is an important and necessary part of personal development – allowing him to broaden his horizons and get outside of the status quo.
No doubt, Dakota Timm‘s love for the outdoors was nurtured by his hometown – Virginia Beach. With fishing, boating, and surfing just a short walk away from his house, he grew up in a sun-soaked world, destined to be a kid bound to travel the globe. But before you start thinking his life is one big vacation, he spent just as much time as a kid honing his business skills as he did surfing Virginia Beach. Raised by a successful entrepreneur mother, the desire to carve out his own niche in the world is literally in his blood, and by the time he was 10, he was redesigning skateboards and selling them for profit.
From there, he grew into a young man who developed his own clothing brand (CapeSquad) which was later acquired by his school and is now sold in the school store and created a protein coffee brand that got him a meeting with the CEO of Massimo Zanetti – North America.
Dakota’s been around the world and back, and he’s not interested in slowing down. But beyond the surfing in Costa Rica and the shark fishing in the Bahamas, one of the most exciting adventures for Dakota Timm is the ability he has every day to develop and hone his business skills. Currently, Dakota is set to graduate from William and Mary’s Raymond A. Mason School of Business with a Master of Business Administration and a Masters in Accounting. Throughout his undergraduate career, Dakota focused his internships on honing his skills in project management, finance, and real estate.
Dakota Timm’s experience includes working as the Hotel’s Broker Intern at (CBRE) CB Richard Ellis in Norfolk, VA, a Business Development Intern at Virginia Beach Economic Development, and as a Project Manager Intern at Goldkey/PHR-Hotels and Resorts. He’s also spent time gathering valuable information on real estate as he was elected the first-year representative for the real estate club at William and Mary where he recruited prominent real estate figures in the Coastal Virginian region to share their knowledge and wisdom with members of the club.
In addition, Dakota has also volunteered at Operation Smile mission in Colombia, Habitat for Humanity, Surf and Serve mission, and as a Team Coordinator for The JTWalk, which is the largest ALS charity walk in the country.
